Flat racing, in which horses compete on a flat, oval-shaped track, is very popular in the area. This style of racing often has separate competitions for horses of various ages and sexes, such as those for 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, and 4-year-olds. Steeplechase, in which horses race over a course that has obstacles including hurdles, water jumps, and more, is another popular kind of horse racing in South America. Steeplechase races are fun and hard for both the horses and the riders. This is because the horses need to show not only speed but also skill and agility. The Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini in Argentina and the Gran Premio Latinoamericano, which features the top horses from all across South America, are just two examples of the regional and local horse races held around the continent.
Over the years, South America has been home to several renowned horse races. Jorge Ricardo, an Argentine rider, holds the record for the most career wins with over 13,000 victories and is widely regarded as one of the most famous personalities in the history of South American horse racing. Braulio Baeza, a Chilean rider, has won several Kentucky Derby races in the United States, while Jorge Velasquez, a Brazilian rider, has won more than 6,000 races in his career. The Argentine horse Paseana, who won many Grade 1 races in the United States, and the Brazilian horse Vencedor, who was voted Horse of the Year in his own country, are just two examples of the world-class racehorses that can be found throughout South America. These and other notable South American horse racers have cemented the continent’s position as a worldwide powerhouse in the sport.
The future of horse racing in South America is unclear, as it is in many other parts of the globe. Even though the sport has been around for a long time and has a lot of dedicated fans, it has had financial problems and raised concerns about animal cruelty in recent years. Many, however, in the business sector continue to have faith in the sport’s long-term viability and are actively engaged in making that happen. There are a lot of reasons to be optimistic about the future of horse racing in South America, especially with the recent improvements in technology and the growing interest in the sport around the world. After having performed twice the Venezuelan Film Festival, Mérida 2005, Mérida 2006 and Mérida 2007, has made us reflect on the urgent need to maintain a constant update in the training of those involved in the Latin American audiovisual area, both professionals and students.
In this way, we continue to propose this training instrument, composed of representatives of the national and international audiovisual world that transfer their knowledge, both professional and academic, to our country.
The Audiovisual Technological Update Workshop 2008 is a framework event of the “Festival of Venezuelan Cinema Mérida 2008”, which is a response to our search and is the continuity, in its second edition, of a series of training conventions aimed specifically at the professional, amateur and related audiovisual media.
The Center for Aesthetic Research of the Universidad de los Andes and the Venezuelan Association of Aesthetics, together with the Foundation for the Development of Art and Culture (FUNDEARC), organizers of the “Festival of Venezuelan Cinema”. They invite to the 1st International Symposium of Aesthetics and Cinema on the “Languages of the Audiovisual Factory” from June 16 to 20, 2008, in the city of Mérida, Venezuela. In the last decade, the CIE has organized seminars and symposiums dedicated to the decisive languages of Contemporary Art (Aesthetics and Music, Aesthetics and Architecture, Aesthetics and Visual Arts, Aesthetics and Literature, Aesthetics and Philosophy, Aesthetics and Social Sciences, Aesthetics and Actional Art , Aesthetics and Science) and wants to dedicate this event to one of the most important spaces of current art: La Factory(*) Audiovisual. In almost all the events carried out by us, different work tables, own samples and even awards dedicated to film and video art took place. Nevertheless; We want to thematize some of the essential fields of audiovisual languages and the concepts that mobilize them, due to the immense impact they have for the self-formulation and understanding of contemporary art. The renewed impulse that gave our circuit, first, the creation of the School of Audiovisual Media in 1998 and, second, the reappearance in 2005, 2006, 2007 and in preparation 2008, of the Venezuelan National Film Festival promoted by FUNDEARC, have generated the urgent need to open this meeting of researchers, filmmakers, technicians and artists of the Audiovisual Media that already has an international, local and national presence.

In the mid-nineteenth century, in a small Venezuelan town, Father Giovanni and a scribe write the story of a supernatural case that they have witnessed, it is the story of a mysterious spectrum, which the townspeople have baptized as “El Silbón”. At the present time, we know a family made up of Gabriel and Mayra, Ana’s parents. Gabriel suspects that his daughter is possessed by the devil since she is trying to kill him. Gabriel asks the parish priest for advice, which is the same one in which Father Giovanni wrote about Silbón more than a hundred years ago.
